Central South Island Charity Bike Ride

Location: Timaru - Kurow - Tekapo - Timaru

The Central South Island Charity Bike Ride began in 2005 with the aim of raising funds for local charities. We have held a ride annually since then, raising a whopping total of $678,000.00 for local South Canterbury Charities.

The Ride's Key Objectives are:

arrow rightTo raise money for small local charities/groups
arrow rightTo motivate participation & increase personal health & fitness
arrow rightRaise awareness of the existence of local support & service groups
arrow rightDevelop attitudinal changes in relation to people with disabilities


Day 1: The Cyclists travel from Timaru to Kurow via Waimate, Waihaorunga and Ikawai where they stay overnight at various locations around Kurow.

Day 2: At the crack of dawn, the cyclists tackle the Otematata Saddle to Omarama and on to Twizel for lunch. The next leg of the journey provides some spectacular scenery as the cyclists ride from Twizel, past Lake Pukaki and the Tekapo B Power Station and onto to the Army Barracks at Tekapo for the night.

Day 3: The final leg of the journey has cyclists riding from Tekapo through Fairlie and on to Cave for lunch. With the excitement evident, it is the last leg of the journey through Pleasant Point and into Timaru finishing at the SBS Events Centre in Morgans Road. The 369km journey is complete and cyclists will unwind at the Charity Dinner held at the Phar Lap Raceway at 6pm

This February, Aoraki Polytechnic will welcome over 1100 students with its best Orientation Week yet, concluding with headline act The Black Seeds, set to play on campus on Friday 24 February at 3pm. Originally from Wellington the Reggae Roots group are set to tour Europe and North America this year. Open to the public, come along and enjoy the music and welcome our new and returning students for 2012.

The South Canterbury Car Club Inc announces its Clubman series 15 exciting races over 5 rounds during the 2011 - 2012 race season.

Looking for somewhere to use that race car sitting in the shed. Want to add more racing to your race weekend. This series is designed for the Competitor, come and go at will, race when you want to. Enter each round as it comes around. No requirement to pre register for the whole season.

First Round kicks off Sunday August 7th Timaru International Motor Raceway - Where attitude is Everything!

This course is approved under Section 19G of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 for training health and safety representatives and offers an alternative to union-based training. Topics include: Introduction to workplace health and safety, employee participation, good faith in practice, functions of health and safety representatives, hazard management, emergency and incident tracking, investigation and reporting.
